Did they get my best side?

There is an article on Arrayan in the Scottish and Northern Equestrian Magazine (SNE) this month.  It is the April edition and has all the show dates so if your "Oop North" its well worth getting your hands on a copy.

Roan as far as the eye can see!

Thought I would share these great photos Emma has sent me of her trip to Las Moras, where Arrayan was bred.

I think the next two photos are of Arrayan's full brother a gelding.

This last photo is of Arrayan's sister, isn't she the most gorgeous colour?!

Colouring Out!

Steve and Bob just sent me a recent photo of Jeannie, I think it would be fair to say she won't be brown when her summer coat comes through!!

I should add that "goggles" are often a sign of grey in appaloosas but this filly cannot be grey as her sire is tested and her dam is brown with no grey anywhere in her pedigree.  I think its a cute look!!

Cheeko 1988 - 2010

Sad day as Marks ex showjumper and ex polo pony came down with colic suddenly this afternoon and left him no choice after owning him for 17 years.

He had been a bit of a lad in his day before turning into a grumpy old git in his twenties!  The last couple of years we had used him as a teaser on the stud and he still thought he was the main man and herd boss.

Chip at nine months.

Chip at nine months old, still molting furiously and the brown streaks are molasses, helpfully groomed on by the others.  Slightly going through the yearling fuglies but still a very very nice little horse.

And a mummy's girl!!!

One away

Chamfron Colorado has left to go to his new home, he's only going ten minutes down the road though so we will see plenty of him.

This was him at a day old, he was sporting more of the furry yak look when he left!!

Immortalised in Yarn!

Well friend Caroline is the big Four O tomorrow so what do you get someone for such a momentous occasion?  You get them modeled into a Meerkat, what else?  Caroline runs her own dog walking business as well as being an artist so here is Meerkat Caroline thanks to Niftykniks.

Well Caroline wasn't going to let that lie was she?  So now you will see "Mule Meerkat" based on yours truly and Treacle.

(Mule photos taken by NiftyKnits)

Highly recommend Heather's work so if you are looking for an unusual pressie for anyone give her a shout.

Well yesterday was glorious, the 1st of March and it felt just like spring, I took rugs off the brood mares that were in and spent a happy hour transferring all their fur to me.  The dashboard on the computer was a full row of bright smiling suns with temperatures of up to nine degrees all week.  I had a fair old bounce in my step!  Which is why I was a little surprised when I walked the dogs at midnight and there was...
